Idonije Agrees To Two-Year Deal With Bears
Defensive lineman Israel Idonije agreed to a two-year, $7 million contract extension with the Bears on Friday.
Idonije was due to make $1.75 million in 2009, but received an added $2 million through a signing bonus. He is scheduled to make $2.5 million in each of the next two years. In 2010, $1 million of that money is guaranteed.
"He'll be effectively doubling what his current contract was," agent Drew Rosenhaus said. "He's essentially one of the more highly paid backup defensive lineman in the NFL.
"Should he develop into a starter at some point in the next year or so, it's a short-term deal. And it creates some flexibility. But for one of the most versatile defensive lineman and an outstanding special teams guy, we think that this deal makes a lot of sense for both sides."

Bills Give RB Jackson 4-Year Extension
The Bills signed backup running back Fred Jackson to a four-year contract extension on Wednesday.
Jackson played at Division III Coe College and spent a few years playing in the U.S. Indoor Football League.
"I traveled a road that not a lot of people take or will take," Jackson said. "I'm happy that I took the road, because I'm appreciative for being here and being able to have had the success that I have had."
The financial details were not known as of Wednesday afternoon.
"It let me know where I stand with the team," the running back said. "I thought it would be done a lot sooner than it actually was. It wasn't, but we're here now. I could just focus on playing football now."
Taylor Takes Less To Return To Miami
Defensive end Jason Taylor has agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million deal to return to the Dolphins.
There are $400,000 of additional incentives in the agreement, according to agent Gary Wichard.
The Patriots were also interested in Taylor.
"My heart has always been in Miami and so I'm truly excited to call myself a Dolphin once again," Taylor said in a statement. "I was presented with a number of different opportunities, but in the end the combination of this being the best situation for my family, my love for this community and my tremendous loyalty to a great organization made this an easy decision."
Bears Agree To Terms With TE Gaines
The Bears have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with tight end Michael Gaines.
"It's an unreal moment for me right now, just because of who the Bears are, what the organization is and the winning tradition," Gaines said. "It feels good in that aspect."
Gaines has caught 79 career passes for 810 yards and 5 touchdowns in five NFL seasons.
Foote, Lions Agree To Terms On Deal
The Lions and linebacker Larry Foote have agreed to terms on a one-year deal that brings the veteran to his hometown team.
Foote was released by the Steelers for salary cap reasons earlier this week.
"I'm excited because it's a fresh start for me," Foote told the Associated Press. "It's a one-year deal to show my talents, and hopefully end up signing a long-term deal after showing the Lions and their new coaching staff what I can do."
